Chelated magnesium glycinate 400mg and vitamin D3 5000 IU with K2 as MK-7 — better-absorbed forms, with the elemental dose per capsule.
How to read a supplement label
Two things are worth checking on any supplement: the form of the nutrient and the dose per serving.
Form. Magnesium comes in many salts and they are not equivalent. Magnesium glycinate is chelated to the amino acid glycine, which absorbs better and is considerably gentler on the digestive system than the magnesium oxide used in most supermarket tablets. For vitamin D, D3 (cholecalciferol) raises blood levels more effectively than D2.
Pairing. Vitamin D and K2 are usually taken together: D increases calcium absorption, and K2 as MK-7 helps direct that calcium to bone. Buying them combined is simpler and cheaper than two bottles.
Dose. Read the serving size, not the headline on the front — a “400 mg” claim sometimes means two or three capsules. Both of our supplements state the elemental dose per capsule.
Take fat-soluble vitamins such as D3 and K2 with a meal containing some fat. Supplements support a diet rather than replacing one, and they are not a treatment for a deficiency you have not had confirmed.
