Choosing respiratory care products

These products do three different jobs, and it is worth being clear which one you actually need.

Nasal rinsing clears the nasal passages with saline. A squeeze-bottle system like the Pust delivers a higher volume at low pressure, which most people find more effective than a spray for congestion and post-nasal drip. Mix sachets with distilled or previously boiled water that has cooled — never straight from the tap.

Steam inhalation adds warm moisture to the airways. A personal inhaler with a face mask directs steam where you want it instead of losing most of it to the room, which is its main advantage over leaning over a bowl.

CPAP hygiene is maintenance, not therapy. Masks and cushions collect skin oils that degrade silicone and break the seal. Alcohol-free wipes clean without drying the cushion out; alcohol-based wipes shorten cushion life noticeably.

None of these replace treatment for an ongoing respiratory condition. They are day-to-day comfort and maintenance tools.
